When people turned to the virtual world to connect with each other at the height of the pandemic, MMOs and other multiplayer games got a boost in popularity. Multiplayer XR games also began growing as a new genre of immersive cooperative play. While these games have the same basic goal of allowing multiple players to share experiences in the same virtual environment, they continue to evolve and develop into games that go beyond entertainment.

One of the best Star Wars VR games will soon be available on PC VR headsets for no charge. Beginning November 24th, you can pick up Star Wars: Squadrons for free via the Epic Game Store and take part in deep space battles throughout a variety of famous and never-before-seen locations from the Star Wars Universe (SWU). Originally released in 2020, this first-person dogfighting simulator allows you to pilot a variety of customizable starfighters.

Qualcomm today announced Snapdragon AR2, its “purpose-built headworn augmented reality platform.” Differentiating from the company’s existing Snapdragon XR2 chips, Qualcomm says the AR2 architecture is better suited for creating AR glasses with low power consumption and compact form factors. HTC has been teasing its next VR headset over the last few weeks, showing off bits of the device at a time which the company promises will be “something big… we mean small.” Now it appears the design and some of the specs have been leaked, with the details gathered courtesy of VR analyst and YouTuber Brad Lynch. Info surrounding the headset—still nameless at the time of this writing—was gathered by Lynch from sources “mostly in the supply chain,” he says.

After a series of delays due to technical difficulties, NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) is set to launch later this week as part of the Artemis I mission. Nreal announces three big updates for its Nreal Air AR hardware. Nreal, a leading provider of consumer-ready augmented reality (AR) glasses, has announced that the chic-looking Nreal Air glasses now support major video games consoles such as the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Steam Deck thanks to a new firmware update.
