Social and Multiplayer VR can be incredibly compelling, but the process of actually ‘finding’ your friends in VR is still a clunky and often frustrating process. Oculus is developing a new set of social and multiplayer tools which stand to make it much easier to directly connect with friends by treating games and apps more like actual places.
The glove-like accessory allows standalone VR users to feel virtual objects. In January of 2018, BeBop Sensors debuted its Forte Data Glove at the annual Consumer Electronics Showcase in Las Vegas, Nevada, during which the company showcased its “smart fabric” technology simuating the sensation of touch while in a virtual space; put simply, the high-tech gloves allow users to “feel” virtual objects while immersed in a VR experience.
Many people associate virtual reality with video gaming. Certainly, we’ve seen numerous advances in immersive gaming over the years. However, that’s not all there is to VR.
