HaptX lets you control a robotic hand, and feel what the robot feels, anywhere in the globe. During the 1950’s Ralph Mosher, project engineer behind GE’s Cybernetic Anthropomorphic Machines Systems (CAMS), pursued the idea of using robotics as an extension of human arms in a way that could precisely mimic human movements in real-time. The project was called the Hardiman , which created a human/machine interface that not only gave humans the ability to “feel” through force feedback, but it also

In many high-pressure situations such as emergency medicine, law enforcement, firefighting, air traffic control and the military the litmus test for success is behavioral performance. It is one thing to know “what” to do, and to have the ability to verbalize the appropriate steps to achieve some aim, but it is another to know “how” to do it, and to generate the appropriate behaviors in the correct sequence quickly and accurately.

The MWC 2019 in Barcelona has finished some days ago. Like every year, during this event we have seen some important AR news, but not that many, since the event was more focused on mobile phones than immersive technologies. In my opinion, there are 3-4 pieces of news that are really worth a mention and I’m going to tell you about them in this post so that reading it you will have a clear picture of what has happened at MWC 2019 for what concerns XR.

To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.

It seems one of two things is happening at the moment: either Oculus Rift has been selling like hotcakes and going out of stock simultaneously all over the Internet, or the company is tuning down production for some unknown reason. Considering there’s been no big price drops lately to bring on unseasonable demand, it could be that Facebook is flushing out stock to make way for what’s next.

As I've mentioned in recent days, it was refreshing to discover that Microsoft's HoloLens 2 stage production was every bit as accurate as presented (check out my hands-on test of the device for more on that). But beyond watching Microsoft's deft HoloLens 2 stagecraft, and trying the product out myself, it's important to understand some of the thinking that went into a device that many have been waiting years to get their hands on.

Nintendo enters the VR industry in the most Nintendo way possible. To be perfectly honest, I don’t quite know how to start this article. I’m still a little shocked by the announcement myself. Since when has learning and development (L&D) become such a negative experience with its intended learners? Could it be because learners have been conditioned by very poor learning experiences over the past two decades, combined with the kinks of technological innovation? Or is it because learning has typically been designed as a one-size-fits-all solution, despite the fact that humans are not clones?
