Standalone technology is leading the way for a brand new wave of location-based VR. We’re not even half way through 2020 and so far this year is shaping up to be a big one for standalone location-based VR thanks to the Oculus Quest. Experiences such as MissionX , Triton VR , and Cyberaction are leading a new genre of arena-scale VR experiences which require players to physically move throughout their play spaces.

Oculus Connect 7 switches to a virtual format as a result of Coronavirus. Facebook has confirmed its upcoming Oculus Connect 7 developer conference will be switching to a digital format this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. In a blog update posted to the Oculus website, the company states that in order to ensure the safety of the staff, developers, and attendees, OC7 will be switching to a digital format in lieu of the standard in-person event held in San Jose, California.
Etee, the finger-tracking VR controller with SteamVR Tracking, has nearly reached its Kickstarter goal with plenty of time to spare. Though the controller is designed to be free of buttons, sticks, and triggers (relying instead on finger tracking), its creators say it can adapt to existing VR games.
