Judging by sales volume on Amazon, Quest 2 & Quest 3 massively outsold PSVR 2 during the 2023 holiday season. Tracking Quest 2, Quest 3, and PSVR 2 sales volume on Amazon US gives strong evidence that Quest headsets did quite well this holiday season, while PSVR 2 saw concerningly low sales. Looking at the numbers over the course of the holiday season shows that for every 1 unit of PSVR 2 sold, Quest sold more than 30 units.

Today, Microsoft is making its long—awaited Mesh for Teams immersive VR meeting platform available for enterprise end users. The service is now available for clients, allowing them to access Microsoft’s dynamic virtual remote meeting solution via desktop or Meta Quest headsets. The new addition to Microsoft’s popular remote meeting service provides Teams users with immersive virtual meeting rooms and customizable avatars ready to suit a variety of use cases.

Microsoft Teams now lets you hold meetings in 3D and VR, as its immersive chatting platform Microsoft Mesh has now come out of preview. Microsoft announced Mesh back in early 2021 , essentially acting as the company’s foundation for building multi-user XR applications and letting cross-platform users connect in a virtual environment. It’s a bit like the now-defunct social VR platform Altspace VR, which Microsoft shutdown last year , albeit built exclusively for business.

If you were lucky enough to pre-order the headset before it sold out ( within 15 minute s) on the Apple store, you might interested in grabbing some accessories before your device arrives. Immersed now lets you preorder Visor for $400 plus a subscription, instead of needing to pay the full price. Who Is Immersed And What Is Visor? Immersed currently offers a free app for Meta Quest, Vive Focus 3, and Pico 4 that shows your PC monitors in VR and lets you spawn entirely virtual extra monitors, for up to 5 monitors in total. Visor is a new headset fully designed around this use case, a lightweight streamlined device rather than a generalized headset for an ecosystem of applications.

Apple Vision Pro preorders have been estimated at almost 200,000 by a prominent supply chain analyst. Ming-Chi Kuo, who has been reporting on Apple's supply chain for more than 10 years, estimates Apple has somewhere between 160,000 to 180,000 Vision Pro preorders. For comparison, in October Kuo claimed Meta would produce 2.5 million Quest 3 headsets by the end of 2023.

Intel and UMC on Thursday said they had entered into an agreement to jointly to develop a 12 nm photolithography process for high-growth markets such as mobile, communication infrastructure, and networking. Under the terms of the deal, the two companies will co-design a 12 nm-class foundry node that Intel Foundry Services (IFS) will use at its fabs in Arizona to produce a variety of chips.

Airplanes seem like an ideal place to dive into VR, as you can switch out the cramped environment of the cabin for a giant movie theater, or whittle away the hours browsing the web on a massive screen — something that shouldn’t bother your seat mates too much. Although Quest’s tracking is one of the most reliable out there, it still has trouble in moving vehicles like airplanes and cars.
