One of the best Star Wars VR games will soon be available on PC VR headsets for no charge. Beginning November 24th, you can pick up Star Wars: Squadrons for free via the Epic Game Store and take part in deep space battles throughout a variety of famous and never-before-seen locations from the Star Wars Universe (SWU). Originally released in 2020, this first-person dogfighting simulator allows you to pilot a variety of customizable starfighters.

Quest 2’s GPU performance is now 7% higher than before. The Quest OS dynamically adjusts the GPU clock frequency to give apps the performance they need without wasting battery when they don’t need it. In a software update today, Meta increased the maximum frequency from 490 MHz to 525 MHz. This appears to be an automatic update applied to all headsets, not a new full system update you’d need to wait for.

Who needs windows when you have VR? It was back in 2014 that Apple first began the development of its own automotive vehicle. After years of radio silence from the company, reports began circulating that the company had switched gears and was now working on a self-driving vehicle that requires no input on behalf of the passengers. As such this autonomous car would lack any and all driver controls, including a steering wheel and foot pedals.

Adobe’s VR modeling tool, Substance 3D Modeler , is now available on Steam, bringing with it support for Valve’s Index headset and possibly others. Adobe released 3D Modeler as part of its ‘Substance’ suite of applications last year. The application supports VR and non-VR modes. In VR, users can intuitively ‘sculpt’ 3D models to their liking, then pull them into the 2D mode for refinements and use with the rest of the Substance suite (or vice versa).
