Pico Interactive, the company behind a number of enterprise-focused standalone VR headsets, unveiled their newest line of Neo 2 headsets, one of which includes integrated eye-tracking from Tobii. Neo 2 has been floating around for a few months now in its prototype form, albeit without the newly unveiled addition of eye-tracking.
Eye-tracking is oft called the ‘next generation technology’ for VR headsets—lest we forget FOVE , the creators of the world’s first commercially available eye-tracking VR headset, the aptly named FOVE 0. SEE ALSO Oculus Acquires Eye-Tracking Company The Eye Tribe.

It’s uncertain whether it will include eye-tracking, although HTC has a track record of releasing eye-tracking modules which it may pursue here as well. It’s said to be “one of the lightest that’s on the market,” although there are still a few mysteries to unveil.
The device is also rumored to include built-in eye-tracking, USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode, and work with Vive Focus 3’s accessories—although none of that is confirmed. We’ll be keeping an eye on HTC in the coming weeks for any indication of what’s to come, so check back soon.

While Burning Man announced it’s throwing in the towel on a live 2021 event, the world’s largest trade show, CES, will be back in LasVegas the first week of January, 2022. Wedged somewhat inconsiderately at the very start of every year (it’s OK CES organisers, no one in the tech industry have families they want to spend time with), the annual Consumer Electronics Show held in LasVegas is still the biggest event for hardware in the world. We’ve not heard anything of them since.
An eye-tracking accessory built for Vive should work with Rift as well, and so on. And it is not stopping here: OpenXR has just added new extensions for hands and eyetracking , and a company like UltraLeap has just released a beta implementation for its hands’ tracker. But I want to be positive about this… go OpenXR! .
