Talking about the optics system of the Vision Pro, there are still many unknowns about the ZEISS prescription lenses associated with the device. This is because the lenses may affect the detection of the OpticID and the performance of eyetracking.
The full list of those exhibiting in the gaming and virtual reality category can be found here and include new virtual reality headsets, 3D cameras, motion and eyetracking technologies and 3D imaging. It employs an inside-out tracking system — meaning there is no outside camera that does position tracking.
The use of eye, hand, and voice interactions make the interface with the headset natural and easy to be learned. The genius part has been mixing eyetracking with hand micro-gestures. We have not seen much about this headset, but the basic interactions seem made the right way.
The upcoming Vision Pro headset is set to feature two Micro OLED 4K displays with a resolution of 3800 x 3000 per eye, a ring of LED lights to enhance eye-tracking performance, and hand-tracking sensors for a controller-free experience.
For customers wearing glasses, the employee will scan the lenses for the prescription information, and another employee will add the correct ZEISS optical inserts to a Vision Pro in the back room then bring it out for the demo. Gurman reports that the light seal comes in more than 25 shapes and sizes.
