The Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Association (VRARA)’s Central Florida Chapter took centre stage with Full Sail University in late March. At the impressive event, the partners launched their first-ever Central Florida Immersive Technology Summit, hosting industry leaders across the globe.
As the two premiere VR hardware manufacturers, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive both recognize this impediment to adoption and are lowering the price to play, albeit in different ways. HTC Vive has launched their own financing program which relieves the upfront pricing burden of their system– although still maintaining the total cost at $800.
HTC has finally revealed the price of the Vive Pro : it will cost $799 just to have the headset (no controller and no base stations, so you must already have a Vive 1 kit) and will be available for pre-orders since April, 5th. But, as Road To VR has stated, maybe HTC should have clarified that in all its marketing material.
Development is divided evenly across the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift platforms, each accounting for 31% of projects created, with other major VR platforms such as Samsung Gear VR, OSVR, and Daydream rounding out the bottom numbers.
