VR and AR headsets are heading to market from Microsoft, Google, Facebook and others that have a wide range of capabilities. Just last week we learned about Facebook’s plan for a $200 headset that occupies the low end of the market while Google continues work on a six degrees of freedom standalone headset.

Smith has been using an HTC Vive for the project though, instead of the kit’s position-tracked controllers, he can be seen on News 4 Jax using a LeapMotion sensor for hand-tracking. VR is finding plenty of use as a healthcare tool with similar applications. This allows him to more realistically handle the virtual tumor.
Unlike the Lucasfilm AR headset, which uses a smartphone to power it (like the Google Daydream or the Samsung Gear VR does), the company says this concept is a standalone, self-powered headset. San Francisco-based LeapMotion has raised a $50M Series C for their hand- and finger-tracking technology.
AR is being applied in training and education, healthcare, heads-up wayfinding and navigation, tourism, retail, field service, real estate sales, design and architecture. The World Map in this world therefore isn’t a 2D street map like we have with Google Maps or Open Street Map, nor is it a 3D map with terrain and building volumes.

I’ve used Google search to find all the pages with references to Del Mar in the Oculus website, and all the docs are identical to the previous versions. Google will delay the release of Chrome 81 , the one that should have included WebAR. Yes, Android, Google. Another great UX post by LeapMotion.
