Magic Leap has entered a "multi-faceted, strategic technology partnership" with Google. The companies say the partnership will combine Magic Leap's "leadership in optics and manufacturing" with Google's "technology platforms". Google was an initial investor in Magic Leap, leading a $542 million funding round back in 2014.

Saudi Arabia-owned Magic Leap took $500+ million more from the "sovereign" investment arm of the state to continue developing its technologies for transparent optical AR. A few researchers at Meta, and maybe Google or Amazon, are likely waiting for those exact same benchmarks. Microsoft formally killed its PC VR platform.
