Talking about the optics system of the Vision Pro, there are still many unknowns about the ZEISS prescription lenses associated with the device. The haptic feedback of typing on a surface is much worse than the one of a keyboard, plus hand tracking is too prone to errors when the hands are close to a surface.

Cinephiles scratching their heads at Megalopolis and the limits of the Hollywood machine for making movies in the 21st century should find an Apple Vision Pro and sit for a showing of Submerged.

ZEISS optical inserts will cost between $99 and $149. They don’t require a tracking ring, like previous Meta Controllers, and offer TruTouch haptics for fantastic haptic feedback (another factor that’s not as significant in the Meta Quest 3). The prescription lenses for the Quest 3 start at $50, too – half the price of the Zeiss lenses for reading and a third of the cost of prescription lenses for the Vision Pro. They’re more precise, more ergonomic, and they even have enhanced haptic feedback capabilities. Still, the Vision Pro is a more “premium” product overall.
