Developer Lee Vermeulen didn’t wait for VR headsets like the Vive Pro to get an AR function , but rather strapped a stereoscopic Zed Mini to his original HTC Vive in effort to push Modbox forward into augmented reality.
The San Diego, California-based firm has become synonymous with delivering XR solutions capable of untethering head-mounteddisplays (HMDs) from PC. This began with devices from Lenovo, HTC VIVE, Pico Interactive, and Meta Platforms, so the growth we’ve seen for consumer use cases has been very strong since then.
Unity Technologies announced a host of new partnerships and exciting updates in 2016.The The dev team I work with uses Unity as our bread and butter. Unity has helped the VR ecosystem with innovation and has made some great hires this year to help chart them into 2017 including hiring innovators such as Tony Parisi and Danny Lange.
Eye Tracking Apart from sessions a few years ago using the HTC Vive Pro Eye and Microsoft Hololens, I didn’t have any experience with eye tracking. There is a small tab (visible in the image above) that starts a simple Unity-based application, with a series of white and green dots that must be followed by the user.
Thus, AR manufacturers sell their development products by passing the cost onto the end user, while VR development is subsidized by all – Oculus shipped ‘devkits’ for $349.99, HTC Vive PRE program shipped over 10,000 units for free, OSVR is very cheap, and makers like Deepoon go for as low as $249.99.
Specifically, I am aware of plans and work in progress to support Intel Realsense, Tobii eye trackers, NOD devices, Leap Motion camera, HTC Vive and others. Because if Apple is just going to repeat the same use cases of the HTC Vive and Meta Quest 2, but selling it at $3000, it is just going to fail spectacularly. More info Discover a Reconfigurable Mobile Head-MountedDisplay This is the weirdest research project I’ve seen this week (thanks Ivan Aguilar for the tip).
And so we can take those objects that are modeled in a CAD system and pull them into a head-mounteddisplay — the Microsoft Hololens — and see those 3D models align with your physical space. And then we can basically pull out that content and render that inside of Unity. What do I do?

And then we can basically pull out that content and render that inside of Unity. What do I do? We're gonna miniaturise that.
