Microsoft’s play for command of next generation personal computing can be seen today with the announcement of a series of Windows-powered VR headsets starting at $300. The headsets planned from HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus, and Acer will use what’s known as “inside-out” position tracking.

Regarding what components have been opensourced, Google states that “The open source project provides APIs for head tracking, lens distortion rendering, and input handling. Microsoft ships HoloLens 2, nReal gets ready to do the same with its glasses. After a long wait, finally Microsoft is shipping its HoloLens 2 headset.
