Microsoft brought their latest mixed reality efforts front and center Thursday at its Build conference in Seattle. On top of partner device and price announcements that challenge the likes of Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, Microsoft also unveiled new controllers as part of mixed reality headset bundles.

Pixvana, a Seattle-based startup creating a cloud-based processing and delivery platform for VR video, today announced a $14 million Series A funding round led by Vulcan Capital with participation from Raine Ventures, Microsoft Ventures, Cisco Investments and Hearst Ventures, and existing investor Madrona Venture Group.

The intuitive project was announced at this year’s Microsoft Build Developer Conference which officially kicked-off Wednesday in Seattle. Using Microsoft technology we can now create even more immersive worlds for audiences to explore and enjoy. No word on when you can expect a public release as of yet.

Three veterans of first-person shooter games have formed Drifter Entertainment , a Seattle-based virtual reality game studio. He was also a chief technology officer at Microsoft on the HoloLens project, and he was the lead programmer on Gears of War and Gears of War 2. The founders include Ray Davis, Kenneth Scott, and Brian Murphy.
