Ok, of course, I’m kidding, but, you know, the possibility of saying the wrong name is so high that my proposal actually starts making sense… Top news of the week (Image by HTC Vive) HTC reveals inside-out-tracked Tracker With a totally unexpected move, HTC has revealed a new kind of Tracker.
The OSVR HDK 2 sits in a unique position in the market, aimed towards developers of VR software and hardware, but also offering an interesting alternative to the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive for enthusiasts willing to take the risk on a not-consumer-ready device.
Today Razer is announcing a $5 million OSVR development fund which the company will use to incentivize support of its open-source VR platform. This gives developers a minimum expectation of ROI when building for OSVR and incentivizes Razer and OSVR to help co-market developers projects in order to sell those pre-purchased keys.
From the advent of the Oculus Rift in 2012, we saw Oculus attend the show for the first time in 2013 to show off their pre-production Rift headset prototype ahead of the DK1 launch, following their wildly successful Kickstarter campaign. CES 2013 however gave us the first glimpse of Oculus VR operating as a company.

Razer opens pre-orders for OSVR HDK 2 virtual reality headset Today, Razer announced that it is opening up pre-orders for the company’s second OSVR development kit, called the HDK 2. How well do the Oculus Touch controllers work with SteamVR apps that are only designed with Vive in mind? Of those 800, all of them support the HTC Vive officially, whereas only 180 support the Oculus Rift. You can still get to Oculus Home by pressing the right-handed menu button, just like you would in any VR app through Home.

Razer is the driving force behind the OSVR, an Open Source Virtual Reality industry initiative. Couple of months ago, Razer unveiled their external graphics box , Razer Core. So, if you want to use Intel Skull Canyon NUC for any games, or VR, you should probably buy an external graphics card. Sadly, that product is only available in limited markets and the asking price ( $499.99 ) almost matches what Intel is asking for this NUC.
