As a long-time AR enthusiast, and one of the first to have tried Google Glass in Italy, I have to admit that I will consider AR mainstream only when it will be on glasses that we will wear all day , when we’ll live in a completely shared mixed reality world (the AR Cloud). The answer is not so trivial.

If this partnership is exclusive, Meta has just got a huge edge over its competitors like Samsung or Google. These are my last hours in China.

The main one regards the 4 devices we were waiting for this year , which in our opinion should have changed everything: Quest 3, Apple Vision Pro, Google-Samsung Headset, and PSVR 2. The Unity Beta to develop for the Vision Pro is still not available, so many devs like me can’t even play with the emulator.

Let’s see: Google is still working with Qualcomm and Samsung on a mixed-reality headset. At first, we had good news: Unity finally revealed its first two AI tools: Muse, which lets you create assets (textures, animations, code) directly in the editor using textual queries. Muse looks a lot like ChatGPT integrated inside Unity.

Samsung has also teased to be interested in releasing a new AR/VR standalone device. The only exception to this rule seems to be the Samsung Odyssey+, that offers features somewhat comparable to the ones of the Vive Pro, but costs only $500. Samsung will do the same.
