LeapMotion is a young technology company that is perhaps best known at this point for what it sells at your local Best Buy. During an in-person demonstration at UploadVR’s SanFrancisco office, the Leap team explained that their new module is compiled using simple, “off the shelf” components.
Unlike the Lucasfilm AR headset, which uses a smartphone to power it (like the Google Daydream or the Samsung Gear VR does), the company says this concept is a standalone, self-powered headset. SanFrancisco-based LeapMotion has raised a $50M Series C for their hand- and finger-tracking technology.
