This trend will continue in 2021 : the new LiDAR sensor, which is rumored to be installed in all future iPhones, will for sure be copied also by Android phones (Samsung?) MagicLeap will meet its fate. Duck Face, MagicLeap One, and me. What about MagicLeap ?
In an interview with a magazine (quoted by Upload VR), he said the following sentences: One of the things [Steam Deck] represents is the battery-capable, high-performance horsepower that eventually you could use in VR applications as well. MagicLeap 2 has inside-out tracked controllers. News worth a mention.
I’ve never seen anyone sleeping in front of Zuck’s house… The marketing power has already been very important in XR: when Quest 1 launched, its features were comparable to the ones of some of its competitors, but all the magazines and the people in the community just talked about Quest, totally overshadowing the other headsets.
And that’s it for today… I hope you enjoyed my first-impressions review… if this is the case, share it with the other innovators and subscribe to my newsletter to sustain this VR magazine and to get to know when I’ll public the review of the HTC device that has excited me the most: The Focus!
MagicLeap has put forth the term Magicverse, a more playful version of a global digital twin that inspires visions of the fantastical. The screens of over 1 billion new smartphones became windows into the physical world because both Apple and Android added AR software to their operating systems.
Top news of the week (Image by Meta) Meta may be working on a very cheap Quest and very expensive Quest Pro 2 Thanks to Twitter user Lunayian , I got to read an article written by a Korean magazine with some very interesting rumors about Meta. I’m not so sure that this is the kind of content people are looking for. It’s the end of an era.
I guess the only ones that wouldn’t are financial services, things that are– Alan: Today, MagicLeap just released a press release. And just like on Google Sheets, you can search Shutterstock to preview images and you want to do the same thing on MagicLeap or Hololens or any 3D application, like Unity or Instagram AR.

And I know Samsung's new Note 10 has 3D capture built into it.

OMG, it’s almost 3 years that I write these roundups… the first week peek was exclusive for my blog subscribers and it featured as best news the release of Google Blocks and in the other news something about Samsung Gear VR… how much time has passed since then! MagicLeap raises other $350M. It would be very intriguing….
VR magazines have published this week many pieces of advice for new Quest 2 owners. It is “easy” to create hype and get preorders and many sales on the first day: Even the MagicLeap One had a very strong first day, and the community was flooded with pictures of people donning the device… but in the end, it was a huge flop.
Samsung AR glasses. Probably the true surprise of the whole show has been Samsung, that during its press conference has teased some AR glasses. Yeah, the 3D model of the trainer seems taken from the Unity Asset Store… Samsung has not talked about the glasses, not even revealing the name, or the specifications.
“Apple has invented the glasses of the future” is probably what journals and magazines will say the day of launch, and all the various HoloLens , MagicLeap , etc… will be forgotten by mainstream media.
Microsoft and Samsung may be partnering for an AR device. According to Korean media, Samsung Electronics is working with Microsoft on a new augmented/mixed reality project “involving HoloLens”. Samsung is one of the most famous suppliers of components for electronic devices (e.g. Samsung Odyssey+).
While there have been many other news from the Oculus Connect 5, this has been the most important one and the one about which every worldwide VR magazine has talked about. We are at the same level of Vive Focus or Vive Pro… probably the display is the same made by Samsung. Oculus Quest has been the rockstar of this event.
Thanks Ivan Aguilar for the tip) More info MagicLeap One is going to be bricked in the next days As already announced by MagicLeap some time ago , soon all the servers related to managing MagicLeap One headsets will be shut down, so no one of these glasses will work anymore.
