The biggest gorillas in the room are the covert augmented reality company MagicLeap, which raised almost $800M in February (bringing its total funding to $1.4B), and the VR live-streaming company NextVR, which raised $80M in August (which brings its total funding to over $115M). Contrary to the news about cows using VR in Russia, this news is real and it is also accompanied by a pending patent. If the numbers are real, they are impressive: HoloLens 1 sold 50,000 headsets worldwide during its lifetime, MagicLeap has sold less than 10,000 glasses… and these companies had bigger funding than Nreal.
