The technology behind Microsoft’s enterprise-focused computer vision camera, the Azure Kinect developer kit , will soon find its way into commercial products. Microsoft is collaborating with two companies, Analog Devices and SICK AG , to create commercial devices using Azure Kinect’s 3D Time of Flight (ToF) depth technology.

Despite HoloLens being now almost two years old, Microsoft isn’t showing any signs of slowing down its plans for the AR headset. Today the company has announced that they’re adding Singapore and the United Arab Emirates to the list of regions from which the device can be purchased, now totaling 41 countries.

Seen a direct competitor to Meta Quest 2, Pico 4 still isn’t officially sold in the US; the headset is currently only available across Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and most countries in Europe. This follows a widening trend of layoffs which have affected nearly every big name in tech, including Google, Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft.

The headset’s starting price makes it clear that Magic Leap is positioning its latest headset as an alternative to Microsoft’s HoloLens 2; the $3,300 base price of Magic Leap 2 undercuts Microsoft’s offering by $200. The company expects the headset to launch in Japan and Singapore by the end of the year.
