Samsung is giving us another reason to slap on a Gear VR headset next month with the introduction of VR Live Pass. Available through the Samsung VR app in early June, VR Live Pass will let you watch live entertainment events and performances from the likes of UFC, X Games and Live Nation.
VR Live Pass, Samsung’s 360-degree video livestream partnership for Gear VR, continues in July with live coverage of the X Games Minneapolis. Samsung is offering unique access to live events this summer free for all Gear VR users, which began with the recent UFC 212 bout in Rio de Janeiro.
Turns out Next VR isn’t live streaming every sport under the sun in VR; the upcoming X Games will be broadcast by Samsung itself. Live streaming events like this in 360 isn’t anything new, but with Samsung’s live pass we’re hoping that the X Games in Minneapolis will be an event to remember.
ESPN has announced that for the first time ever, the X Games will have events livestreamed on VR, something that will be done in collaboration with Samsung. The livestreaming VR events will be available only on the Gear VR platform, and they’ll take place for the inaugural X Games in Minneapolis.
