To deliver the program to the target population, Viability and Link to VR reached out to Oculus Business to create a business-class version of the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset. The Oculus headsets are placed in this unit after each session, so that the next person participating in the VR training program can use them safely.
Now thanks to the success of an early pilot program currently being tested at a handful of these locations, over 140,000 Walmart associates across all 200 training centers will feature virtual reality training simulators by the end of 2017. Both Lowes and Amazon are already taking their own unique approaches towards embracing VR as well.
For example, an entire facility has been fitted out for AR and VR education in Oklahoma. As is, Explain VR includes over 50 different simulations and experiences and there are plans to add more over time. An Oculus Rift version of the application is in development and will hopefully be live in 1-2 months.
And that’s when Carolina Biological, the largest provider of animal specimens for dissection, contacted us because they had been looking for a digital product that could simulate what happens in real life. It’s also we generally put that out there as a free download on the Windows Mixed Reality store and Oculus as well as VIVE.

And it really took that process to key in for me on the insight that the real power of XR is not solely in the simulation itself. And then having someone in Europe or in France somewhere, like a designer in France, and sharing a space with somebody on a 4G connection in Oklahoma. It is in the connected nature of it. I don’t know.

And they are an amazing team based in Oklahoma, and have a lot of people who work remotely. You can do it with an Oculus Quest. Or teach a firefighter a simulation of what it’s like to hold a hose, with that pressure, but see what it’s like in the fire; what it looks like. It’s been amazing for the military.
