Facebook has started today enforcing the “Facebook login” rule , asking Oculus users to merge their Facebook and Oculus accounts. So I imagine a Quest 2 where you can avoid having a Facebook account, but you can’t use the Oculus Store, or all the most important apps and games , and so you are de facto forced to use it.
There are lots of tests that must be done on VRChat to see what is feasible because in VRChat you can develop using Unity, but you can’t write C# scripts and this kills completely lots of possibilities for us developers. So… it’s complicated, it’s stressful , but at the same time when you see what is being created, it is also very rewarding.
If these Facebook features proved to be popular, more developers would use them, and finally, Facebook could have more power on the VR development tools , after the failed acquisition of Unity.
