Yesterday it was the second press day before the big opening of the event, and the only big company explicitly talking about VR in its keynote was Sony that announced the XYN headset. Shuhei Yoshida (aka ‘Shu’) has left Sony, closing a near 32-year chapter of his life with the company. Yoshida announced he was leaving Sony back in November, setting his retirement date for January 15th, 2025. “And when I hit 30 years, I was thinking, hmm, it may be about time for me to move on. .”
While Samsung is said to be the first to launch an Android XR headset, Sony, Lynx, and XREAL are also planning to use the operating system. Introducing Sonys Spatial Content Creation System Sonys new XYN platform is nearing its full release. This suite combines various software offerings, including the XYN Motion Studio for motion capture and a spatial capture solution that transforms real-world objects into 3D assets.

Sony announced its previously revealed XR standalone for enterprise is now called ‘XYN’, which the company is targeting at spatial content creators. We got an opportunity to go hands-on with the pre-XYN prototype in July , back when it was still being referred to as the Sony SRH-S1 content creation system.
